Activities of Specialities

Activities of Specialities

In the daily program of the Kindergarten, every day the children have an activity from our school’s external partners, who give specialised lessons. These lessons are 45 minutes as long as the teaching time according to the Ministry of Education. Therefore, once a week there is a music lesson, a music and movement lesson, a drama lesson and twice a week an English lesson. The same programmes are also offered in the nursery (2.5 – 3 years old small nursery) and (3 – 4 years old large nursery) with the difference that they last less time (30 minutes). So let’s get to know the following activities:

Lilo Music

Every child from the moment they are born tries to understand the world around them. Our music teacher uses this mood of the child as a stimulus to bring him/her into contact with culture and the arts, with the valuable tools of music, movement and theatrical play. During the music lesson the children learn about rhythm, sound, melody, the musical instruments of the Orff orchestra (xylophones, metalophones, percussion, recorder, etc.), singing and basic musical forms through small orchestras. They build their own improvised instruments from scrap and recyclable materials, enter the realm of fantasy by dramatizing and orchestrating performative songs and fairy tales and create their own musical orchestra. The union of music with movement and speech gives the opportunity for multifaceted creative activities, so that children love music. The benefits of Music are many as it is a rare aesthetic and emotional education that sharpens the mind of each child, sweetens his soul, develops his imagination and confidence in himself.

Lilo Theatre

Drama, improvisation, pantomime, role-playing are some of the theatre play activities that take place in our school. Children are looking forward to dressing up in costumes and accessories, creating roles, making up theatre stories. Through this process and the guidance of the theatre teacher, the children learn to express their creativity and experience the joy of the group. Theatrical play releases the imagination, cultivates psychomotor expression, socializes and familiarizes children with art. Puppetry is also part of the course. An activity with great pedagogical and psychological value. Children are impressed by the world of puppetry, getting involved with new characters in new stories every time. Each character has his or her own voice and role in the plot of the story, and each story has its own unique message. In this way, through the role, children identify with and enhance their empathy and emotional intelligence.

Lilo Language

Learning English in today’s world is an essential skill for a child’s all-round development. Thus, our lilies start learning English from a very young age, alongside their mother tongue, through specialised pre-school teachers. The English lesson is conducted in an experiential way through stories, songs, movement games, painting, through audiovisual teaching aids (interactive whiteboard), which are chosen in a way that enhances the child’s inner motivation and makes the lesson fun. This is how we create the conditions for the first experience of learning English to be a positive experience for our children.

Theatrical Workshop "The Little Actors"

In our workshop, children enter the process of discovery and knowledge through theatre, as they explore through imagination! Theatre-games, fairy tales, improvisations, role-playing games star in our meetings. The goals of the program are for the child to gain self-confidence, to enrich his/her speech through roles, to express and recognize his/her feelings, to travel in the magical space of the theatre through roles, scenery, costumes, music, dance, both in theory and in practice. He can even improvise and activate his imagination through a guided improvisation, but also through a story of his own. To socialize and interact with the other children, since theatre is a TEAM… To dress up as a character wearing costumes and accessories from our wardrobe. Every child can live their own fairy tale through the theatrical game! Children from 4 to 6 years old can participate in this activity. Towards the end of the year, parents participate in an open lesson with their children or attend a short theatre event or performance. Finally, during the year, small outings to theatre performances are organised on Saturdays and Sundays.

At the same time, they learn to function harmoniously within the group, improving their perceptive ability, all through recreational and team games. Our young athletes will be taught basic exercises of coordination, flexibility, balance, development of physical fitness and observation. S.T.E.M.

Ta lilies attend a program designed for the Kindergarten age (5-6 years old), which aims to give them their first contact with the magical world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Through play and technological interaction, children learn the basics of programming, robotics and engineering. At the same time, they will experience mathematical concepts. All this will be achieved through engaging educational technology tools such as Beebot, Bluebot, Dash and Dot, WizeFloor, Lego. During the year we hold an open session with parents to monitor the development of our children.
